Minor crop damage reported in latest storms across Western Canada
Storms produced pea to golf ball-size hail across Western Canada resulting in reports of minor damage in most areas, according to the Canadian Crop Hail Association.
“Overall, it was a quieter week for hail activity across the Prairies,” said Bruce Lowe, AG Direct Hail Insurance. “But Alberta saw more intense storms as compared to Saskatchewan and Manitoba, specifically one on July 13.”
CCHA member companies are investigating 269 claims of crop damage from storms that occurred July 13-19.
Companies contributing to this report are AG Direct Hail Insurance, Agriculture Financial Services Corporation, Co-operative Hail Insurance Company, Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation, Palliser Insurance, Rain and Hail Insurance Services, and Saskatchewan Municipal Hail Insurance.
